The Importance of Electronic Insurance
Posted by in Electronics Insurance on September 16, 2011
I recently bought a brand new Nokia Sirocco 8800 for £450 (on contract), and I was playing in the park with my friends. I was in goal and my friend had taken a long range shot, so as I dived across the face of goal I saved the shot, but just lost £450. Why you may ask? Because I didn’t have my phone insured.
Everyone has got home insurance, car insurance, life insurance, furniture insurance etc. These are all expensive items (except for life; that’s priceless), so don’t you wish there was an insurance for your phone, PDA, games console, laptops, SatNavs etc. You would once you have looked at the statistics below:
Last Year:
Over 1.5 million phones were lost
1.3 million phones stolen
600,000 were accidentally dropped in the toilet
400,000 were dropped in drinks
200,000 ended up in the washing machine
That is a whopping 4 million damaged/lost/stolen electronics in the year 2006; and that was just mobile phones. There was a lot more damaged, lost and stolen PDA’s, handheld games consoles, laptops, computers, SatNavs etc. With crime rampant nowadays, this figure is expected to rise.
This article may make you put off by the fact that buying a new phone will harm your financial and mental state, but that’s what I want you to avoid. If you have just bought a brand new Nokia N95, why should you feel afraid of keeping it, because that is what you want. This is why phone insurance is so important. If you are protected, than you can be assured that whatever happens to your phone you’ll be in safe hands.
